The Being: I feel caged! Can’t breathe! Someone, please let me out. I’m drowning in the web of my own thoughts. What have you done to me?! Please let me out. Can’t take it anymore!
The Mind: Oh but, you’re the one who controls me. I’m here to obey you. I can’t let you free until you do it yourself!
Isn’t this the irony behind all our miseries? Life is an amalgamation of the mind, body, thoughts, and emotions. And how we feel, experience, and perceive happens to a huge percentage within ourselves. Things around us may be empty or full, dull or colorful, static or vibrant. But the experience of it happens inside us.
We could look at a beautiful flower, soft and subtle, with hues and fragrances. But if, looking at it, touching it, we don’t feel anything, then the issue is with us, not with the flower! The sky could be full of rainbows, but if we choose to look at it with a grey shaded frame, how will we ever be able to see its magic?
The mind is like a sharp knife. Extremely capable, but only when handled with care. It has the power to shape the world around you, but if left to itself, it can even begin to harm our own selves. Well, that is its brilliance. It’s structured with such immense competence that it can either make you or break you. Once left ignored, it will build a cobweb of its own. It could be powerful tool, or it could be a cage that would never let you free.
Human beings produce thousands of thoughts every day, every minute, every second. But are we even aware of half the thoughts that we create? One may say, “But it’s not in my control; it's not my fault!”. But then, if we can't even think consciously, how can we hope to build a life of our own consciously?
So what is the way out? Can we even go 'Beyond the Mind'? Is it really possible?. The answer is YES! It is possible! If we've been gifted with a device of such power, there has to be a way to use it efficiently. The mind is just a tool that lets us think, process, and act. But once we go beyond the mind, that’s when we really begin to experience the magic of the life thriving within us.
The only way to access this magic is by distancing oneself from the mind. The mind cannot be conquered; it can only be transcended. And as we create some distance from this endless mental clutter, that's when we begin to access the silence that throbs beyond it.
We hear a thousand voices inside our heads. But have we ever tried to hear what silence sounds like?! Just the way noise is happening inside us, not around us, similarly, silence is flowing inside us, every moment. The very second we access this silence, we drift away, far, far away from our thoughts.
Silence is an infinite ocean. There is no beginning, there is no end. Once we take a dip in it, we become one with it.
Today, take a pause. Just sit. Take a moment. Become aware. Aware, of all the clutter inside you. Aware, of all the mess that has been gripping you. Pause. Consciously breathe. Just observe every breath you take. And slowly, witness the silence flowing from every inch of your existence. Take a swim, dive deep in. Can you see it? The magical waters? The boundless sea of silence? It’s here, and it has always been here, breathing, sparkling in your heart. All you need to do is, just look for it, inside!
